Carianne

Carianne Mack Garside, a mother, painter, and Professor of Fine Art was born in Coldspring, NY, grew up in the woods of Northwestern CT, and has lived in many cities across the U.S. since. She received a B.F.A. from Alfred University and an M.F.A. from the University of Iowa. Carianne also studied at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice, Italy. Her work has been exhibited across the country and is installed in numerous private and corporate collections worldwide. She spends her free time in the woods with her three children and her husband, Paul (who teaches music at Tunxis).

I Paint ...

"“I paint best when immersed in an overgrown landscape.  My work feeds on the dynamic structures tangled around me: shadows, light, reflections, wind, gravity and other visually wild “accidents”.  I collaborate with the natural compositions within these sources, and my finished paintings live at the intersection of these moments, my own intuition and metaphor”"
